PATH is a global nonprofit dedicated to achieving health equity. With more than 40 years of experience forging multisector partnerships and with expertise in science, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges.

PATH’s Epidemic Preparedness and Response (EPR) team works with governments and partners to strengthen country capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats. Its portfolio spans integrated disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness and response, One Health and multisectoral coordination, and the use of data and digital tools to improve public health decision-making. PATH EPR seeks a communications consultant to translate complex technical work and program achievements into clear, compelling materials for donors, partners, policymakers, and broader public health audiences. The consultant will work with the EPR leadership and technical teams and coordinate with PATH communications colleagues to ensure consistency with PATH brand and external publication processes.

Period of performance: 9 Nov – 31 December 2026.

Please include a brief cover letter with your daily rate and links to relevant writing samples.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assess existing EPR communications materials and work with EPR leadership to identify priority gaps, audiences, and key messages across outbreak response, integrated disease surveillance, and One Health.
  • Develop concise, donor-facing capability briefs, program summaries, and talking points that articulate PATH’s outbreak preparedness and response expertise, implementation approaches, and results, drawing on concrete country and project examples.
  • Draft external thought-leadership and storytelling content, including blog posts for publication on PATH.org, in collaboration with technical authors and PATH’s communications and editorial teams.
  • Review, refresh, and copy-edit existing donor-facing communications, including capability statements, slide presentations, project profiles, and other business-development materials addressing integrated disease surveillance, outbreak response, and/or One Health.
  • Tailor technical content for different audiences while maintaining accurate, accessible, engaging language and a consistent narrative across EPR materials.
  • Manage drafts, review cycles, and revisions with EPR and PATH communications staff; ensure products follow PATH’s brand, editorial, safeguarding, and publication requirements.
  • Participate in periodic progress check-ins during US East Coast working hours (8 a.m.–4 p.m. ET).

Illustrative deliverables (to be finalized in the workplan):

  • Drafts of approximately 2–3 externally oriented PATH.org blog posts or feature stories highlighting EPR approaches, partnerships, or program impact, prepared for internal editorial review.
  • Updated donor-facing technical and business-development collateral covering integrated disease surveillance, outbreak response, and One Health (e.g., briefs, slides, and one-pagers).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of professional experience in public health, global health, science, or nonprofit communications.
  • Demonstrated experience developing compelling written materials for external stakeholders, including funders, policymakers, practitioners, or general audiences.

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience writing donor-facing materials for international development or global health organizations, and/or published website articles or blogs.
  • Experience communicating results from country-level public health programs, working with ministries of health or multisectoral partners, or supporting proposal/business-development efforts.
