  • Run source-based experimental campaigns at FSU and take the lead on two-neutron transfer studies of light lithium and beryllium isotopes
  • Analyze nuclear reaction data using modern methods, including machine-learning approaches
  • Work with UTK and external theorists to interpret reaction properties, and draw on colleagues’ analysis expertise
  • Follow environment, health, safety and quality requirements while upholding research ethics

What you bring

  • A PhD in experimental nuclear physics or a closely related area, completed by October 2026
  • A strong publication record, experience with nuclear reaction experiments and analysis, and familiarity with ion-source operations
  • Proficiency with CERN’s ROOT analysis suite and the ability to work independently and with experimental teams
  • Authorization to work full time in the United States without employment-visa sponsorship now or later

Who this fits

This postdoctoral role suits a researcher prepared to combine hands-on ion-source operations with experimental leadership and data analysis. The position is on site at Florida State University in Tallahassee. One-nucleon transfer research, machine-learning coding, FRESCO or TALYS, and MCNP or GEANT4 are preferred experience or skills.
