Role brief

remoteroles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Shape AI-driven features around user needs, accounting for edge cases, errors, trust cues and incomplete outputs
  • Lead defined design workstreams, set direction with teammates and make calls using shared feedback
  • Create visual, UI and UX work, from wireframes and annotations to polished prototypes and production designs
  • Work directly with clients and partners in product and engineering to resolve complex experience challenges
  • Adjust your approach across rapid iteration, optimization and longer-range product work

What you bring

  • Product design experience in agency or similar settings across native iOS and Android apps and websites
  • A track record designing AI functionality that changes the user experience, beyond AI-themed visuals
  • Fluency using AI tools in your design workflow and in the experiences you create
  • Experience guiding design work and presenting it clearly to internal teams and senior client contacts
  • Experience with agile product development and enterprise-scale design systems

Who this fits

This senior lead role suits a designer who can own workstreams while collaborating across disciplines and working directly with clients. The position is remote within the USA.

From the employer

Kettle designs digital products with soul, for some of the most ambitious consumer brands in the world. Our work lives at the intersection of product thinking and brand storytelling; products that are just as considered in feeling as they are in function.

We are looking for an AI-native Product Design Lead to join one of our largest accounts, a fast-moving client operating at the intersection of enterprise technology and consumer products. In this role, you'll shepherd the product vision for AI-powered features and experiences, designing what it looks like when AI changes what's possible for the user. As a Lead, you'll own distinct workstreams as part of the larger account, partner with other designers, and work directly with clients to solve their most forward-looking design challenges.

Candidates should have:

  • Product design experience in agency or related environments designing iOS and Android native applications and websites
  • Demonstrated experience designing AI-enabled product features, surfaces, flows, or moments where AI meaningfully changes the user experience, not just AI as an aesthetic, but AI as a functional design challenge
  • Fluency with AI tools as part of your design practice and workflows. You use them to move faster, think broader, and explore more, and you bring that fluency into the work itself
  • Experience leading workstreams, giving direction to others, and making decisions based on collective input and feedback
  • Experience delivering user-focused solutions in high-complexity categories (enterprise technology or consumer products)
  • A clear communication style, with the ability to present design work internally and to senior-level clients
  • Experience working in agile product design/development models
  • Comfort working with and activating against enterprise-scale design systems

We’d like to know that you can:

  • Design AI-powered product experiences with the same rigor and craft you'd bring to any complex interaction challenge, thinking through edge cases, failure states, trust signals, and the design decisions that arise when AI output is incomplete, incorrect, or unexpected
  • Deliver on multiple aspects of design, including visual design, UI, and UX, producing deliverables such as high-fidelity prototypes, production-ready designs, annotations, wireframes, and other artifacts
  • Solve complex experience challenges while delivering beautiful, usable interfaces
  • Own distinct workstreams with the guidance of your design director, bringing clarity and momentum to the work
  • Partner with teammates across disciplines including product management, engineering, and development
  • Work on a client-facing embedded team, building strong client relationships with a solid understanding of their business needs, goals, and how those intersect with the consumer's experience
  • Adapt to different working styles and processes, from rapid iteration and optimization to long-horizon product thinking
  • Embrace challenges and proactively ideate with fellow teammates and clients

The target range of compensation is $150k - $170k. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.
