From the employer
The Principal Product Manager, Platform and Shared Capabilities owns the Product strategy, roadmap, requirements, Product acceptance, adoption, and outcomes for assigned capabilities used across Summit K12 products. The role reduces friction in access, district setup, administration, and shared teacher and administrator workflows while preventing duplicated solutions across the portfolio.
This is a hands-on expert individual-contributor role. The Principal PM applies Summit K12’s full-lifecycle Product Management standard to complex cross-product capabilities and creates leverage through independent judgment, reusable solutions, and measurable outcomes. Engineering owns technical architecture and implementation; domain PMs retain their product outcomes; Academic owns academic validity; customer teams execute district-specific implementation.

1. Platform Product Ownership
- Own the assigned roadmap for access, rostering, SSO, provisioning, roles and permissions, shared navigation, and teacher and administrator workflows.
- Use customer discovery, product data, setup errors, support patterns, and business priorities to define problems, make tradeoffs, and measure outcomes.
2. Implementation and Self-Service Experience
- Own Product requirements for district setup, configuration, onboarding tools, self-service administration, and implementation telemetry.
- Observe customer and internal workflows with Customer Success and Operations; convert recurring manual work and failure patterns into scalable improvements.
3. Shared Capability Governance and Reuse
- Maintain a focused roadmap with named users, consuming products, requirements, service expectations, dependencies, and success measures.
- Prioritize customer impact, cross-product reuse, risk reduction, total cost of ownership, and capacity; document ownership boundaries and prevent the role from becoming a catch-all.
4. Build, Quality and Product Health
- Own requirements, acceptance criteria, validation, migrations and product health for assigned shared capabilities.
- Own product sales enablement and training: plan, demos, guidance, current materials and effectiveness.
- Personally demonstrate and train key teams when needed, then build repeatable training with Sales, Marketing, PD and CS for scaled delivery.
- Gather and validate customer feedback, prioritize action, communicate decisions back to customers and internal teams, and verify iterative improvements using feedback and usage evidence.
- Partner with Design, Engineering, QA, domain PMs, Academic, and customer teams while preserving their decision rights and escalating material cross-portfolio tradeoffs with a recommendation.
5. Cross-Product Learning and Systems Leverage
- Identify reusable access, navigation, permission, workflow, and integration needs that support assessment, PLP, scoring, reporting, and other product domains.
- Own only the assigned shared capability; domain PMs retain product intent and outcomes. Use verified AI-assisted methods and partner with AI Enablement on applicable evaluation and controls.
- 8+ years of product-management experience with platform, integrations, shared capabilities, data or admin workflows, or similarly complex products.
- Demonstrated success translating customer and operational evidence into priorities, complete requirements, successful releases, adoption, and measurable outcomes.
- Strong technical product judgment and the ability to partner with Engineering without assuming architecture or delivery authority.
- Ability to influence senior partners, resolve ambiguity, and create reusable cross-product leverage without formal authority.
- Practical fluency with verified AI-assisted Product workflows.
Preferred
- K-12 EdTech experience with SIS and rostering, SSO, district implementation, assessment, personalization, reporting, or learning-platform workflows.
- Experience turning high-touch implementation or support processes into scalable self-service product capabilities.
