Role brief

remoteroles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the main contact for teams seeking data, reporting or pipeline work
  • Sort incoming requests and set priorities across engineering work against business goals
  • Track delivery, share timelines and explain trade-offs to the stakeholders relying on each project
  • Document the team’s remit and systems, and build processes for requesting and delivering work
  • Show stakeholders what the team delivers, while aligning plans with engineering capacity and constraints

What you bring

  • You have managed development of internal software or data assets, preferably in an engineering, platform or data team
  • You can translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders and discuss database, ETL and BI feasibility with engineers
  • You have used request-handling and prioritization methods in a technical setting
  • You bring experience improving team processes or governance, plus clear technical documentation and independent judgment

Who this fits

This suits a product manager who can make prioritization decisions and connect stakeholder needs with engineering capacity, rather than only coordinating requests. The role is remote and based in Portland.

From the employer

The Data Enablement Team is responsible for building and maintaining the foundational data infrastructure that powers decision-making across the company. We focus on the ingestion, transformation, and modeling of data. Our goal is to ensure that our data is clean, reliable, and accessible through our centralized data warehouse. By delivering well-structured and trusted datasets, we enable downstream teams such as product, finance, and marketing to own their analytics and reporting independently. We use modern tools like Snowflake, dbt, and Python to ensure our data platform is scalable, efficient, and aligned with business needs.

We are looking for a Data Enablement Product Manager to own the planning and prioritization layer that sits between our engineers and the many stakeholders who depend on them. Demand for this team's work comes from across the business – Panel, Platform, Platform, Data Science, Finance, Product, and others. This role exists to gather stakeholder needs, translating them into a coherent, prioritized plan, and engineering capacity against it, agreed with the Data Enablement Director and engineering managers. You will carry real product-management authority over that prioritization, working in conjunction with department and company goals, rather than a coordination-only remit. You will also be expected to document and present the team impact to stakeholders who often don't know it exists.

Responsibilities

  • Own stakeholder communication for the Data Enablement team, acting as the primary point of contact for internal teams requesting data, reporting, or pipeline work.
  • Gather, triage, and prioritize incoming requests across the team's engineers, balancing stakeholder need against department and company goals.
  • Manage delivery of prioritized work as a project, tracking progress and communicating timelines and trade-offs back to stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain documentation covering the team's envelope of responsibilities and the systems it owns.
  • Develop and maintain practical processes for how work is requested, prioritized, and delivered, with guidance from the Data Enablement Director.
  • Build awareness of the team and its work by documenting and presenting its impact to stakeholders, creating visibility for a function that is easy to overlook until something goes wrong.
  • Collaborate with the Data Enablement Director and engineering managers to align prioritization with team capacity and technical constraints.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing the development of internal software or data assets, ideally within an engineering, platform, or data organization.
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating between the two.
  • Working knowledge of databases, ETLs, and BI tools, sufficient to have informed conversations with engineers about feasibility and trade-offs.
  • Demonstrable experience with request management and prioritization frameworks in a technical environment.
  • Experience contributing to governance or process improvement within a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document processes clearly for a technical audience.
  • Ability to work independently, using sound judgment on prioritization, and raising complex or cross-team trade-offs with the Data Enablement Director.
  • You embrace the YouGov values.

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with Snowflake, dbt, or similar modern data platform tools.
  • Experience with project or work-tracking tools such as Jira or Confluence.
  • Experience improving or establishing planning processes within an existing technical team.
  • Background in data governance, data cataloguing, or data quality frameworks.
